 Cuando Jesús nació en Belén de Judea en días del rey Herodes, vinieron del oriente a Jerusalén unos magos, diciendo: ¿Donde está el rey de los judíos, que ha nacido? Porque su estrella hemos visto en el oriente y venimos a adorarle. Oyendo esto, el rey Herodes se turbó y toda Jerusalén con él. Y convocados todos los principales sacerdotes, y los escribas del pueblo, les preguntó dónde había de nacer el Cristo. Ellos le dijeron: En Belén de la tierra de Judea; porque así está escrito por el profeta: Y tú Belén, de la tierra de Judá, no eres la más pequeña entre los príncipes de Judá; porque de tí saldrá un guiador, que apacentará a mi pueblo Israel.

Entonces Herodes, llamando en secreto a los magos, indagó de ellos diligentemente el tiempo de la aparición de la estrella, y enviándolos a Belén, dijo: id allá y averiguad con diligencia acerca del niño; y cuando le halléis, hacédmelo saber, para que yo también vaya y le adore. Ellos, habiendo oído al rey, se fueron; y he aquí la estrella que habían visto en el oriente iba delante de ellos, hasta que llegando, se detuvo donde estaba el niño. Y al ver la estrella, se regocijaron con muy grande gozo. Y al entrar en la casa, vieron al niño con su madre María, y postrándose, lo adoraron; y abriendo sus tesoros, le ofrecieron presentes: oro, incienso y mirra. Pero siendo avisados por revelación en sueños que no volviesen a Herodes, regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.

Mateo 2: 1, 12

El nacimiento de Jesús fue un hecho que dividió la historia, y aunque muchas religiones lo ven como un cuento, existen innumerables registros de que existió, y es el origen del cristianismo, inclusive muchos escépticos no pueden explicar como un hombre puede tener tantos seguidores después de tantos siglos, siendo su libro el más leído de la historia, a pesar de que habían anunciado que desaparecería en solo unos años. 

Indudablemente Jesús fue más que un simple ser humano. Es un misterio revelado para los que deseamos ver. 

Génesis 49: 10 Siempre podrás tener en tus manos el cetro que te hace gobernante hasta que venga el verdadero rey que gobernará a todo el mundo.

Números 24: 17 Lo veré, pero no ahora; lo contemplaré, pero no de cerca. Saldrá estrella de Jacob, y se levantará cetro de entre Israel, y herirá las sienes de Moab y destruirá a todos los hijos de set.

En ese tiempo estaba el imperio enlazado con la religión, esperando ver al anunciado Mesías escrito en el antiguo testamento como el que tendría un cetro inamovible. 

El gobierno teocrático estaba a la expectativa de estos acontecimientos, cuando los magos del oriente vieron las señales del nacimiento de Jesús. Los magos eran llamados a esos hombres sabios porque principalmente estudiaban la astronomía, la astrología, y los sueños como también las escrituras. Fueron del oriente (en la actualidad sería los países de Arabia saudí, Iraq, Yemen, Iran ), un viaje de 800 a 900 millas guiados solo por la estrella brillante, que según sus conocimientos astrológicos indicaba el nacimiento. Al ingresar en la casa, reconocieron al Hijo de Dios ante ellos y se postraron ofreciendo talvez lo mejor que tenían, oro, incienso y mirra. Los tres presentes tuvieron un significado profético para Jesús. El oro en honor como rey; el incienso, una mezcla de resinas que se utilizaban en actos de adoración, y la mirra, un ungüento que se usaba para los cuerpos que partían representando el sufrimiento que había de padecer. Herodes desde ese entonces empezó a buscar a Jesús, pero no le halló, porque fue enviado a Nazareth, donde creció junto a su familia.

Celebramos la navidad, aunque no sea la fecha exacta, porque es un momento para conmemorar ese día especial, donde en un pesebre nació nuestro Salvador.

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, magi from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the king of the Jews who has been born? For we have seen his star in the east and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. He called together all the chief priests and scribes of the people and asked them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: 'And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.

Then Herod secretly summoned the magi and inquired diligently of them the time of the star's appearance. And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” After hearing the king, they set out, and behold, the star that they had seen in the east went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and falling down, they worshiped him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. But being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.

Matthew 2:1, 12

The birth of Jesus was an event that divided history, and although many religions see it as a fairy tale, there are countless records that he existed, and he is the origin of Christianity. Even many skeptics cannot explain how a man can have so many followers after so many centuries, his book being the most read in history, despite the fact that they had announced that it would disappear in just a few years. 

Undoubtedly, Jesus was more than just a human being. He is a mystery revealed to those of us who wish to see. 

Genesis 49:10 The scepter shall not depart from your hand, until you have given up the throne to the one who is entitled to it.

Numbers 24:17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob, and a scepter will rise out of Israel, and it will strike the temples of Moab and destroy all the sons of Seth.

At that time, the empire was linked to religion, waiting to see the Messiah announced in the Old Testament as the one who would have an unshakeable scepter.

The theocratic government was awaiting these events when the magi from the East saw the signs of Jesus' birth. The magi were called wise men because they mainly studied astronomy, astrology, and dreams, as well as the scriptures. They came from the East (today's Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran), traveling 800 to 900 miles guided only by the bright star, which according to their astrological knowledge indicated the birth. Upon entering the house, they recognized the Son of God before them and bowed down, offering perhaps the best they had: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The three gifts had prophetic significance for Jesus. Gold in honor of him as king; frankincense, a mixture of resins used in acts of worship; and myrrh, an ointment used for departing bodies, representing the suffering he was to endure. From that time on, Herod began to search for Jesus, but he did not find him because he was sent to Nazareth, where he grew up with his family.

We celebrate Christmas, even if it is not the exact date, because it is a time to commemorate that special day when our Savior was born in a manger.
